A Word from our PastorJanuary 2007 Milestones January 1 often feels like a milestone. We begin a new year. Sometimes that comes with resolutions or thoughts of what this new year brings. Setting goals, having a focus, or reaffirming old ones can be a good thing. Milestones can be turning points in life. What will you set your heart on for 2007? When Jesus was passing through Jericho He encountered a tax collector named Zacchaeus. Zacchaeus had his heart set on accumulating wealth and possessions. Jesus invited Himself to Zacchaeus’s home for dinner. It became a milestone, a turning point in Zacchaeus’s life. After dinner Zacchaeus said, “I will give half my wealth away to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated anyone on their taxes I will give back four times as much” (Luke 19:8). The desires of his heart were re-directed. Psalm 37 of David says, “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (vs.4). Wisdom for life begins and ends in our relationship with God. What will we set our hearts on in 2007? Setting goals and having priorities is a good thing. May Christ be a part of that process for you. Invite Him in through prayer and quiet time as you begin a new year. May your hopes be centered in the delight of the Lord and may He give you the desires of your heart. May God Bless Your New Year, Pastor Jim
Meet Pastor Jim Wilson!
Pastor Jim is originally from St. Paul, Minnesota, where he attended Bethel College (BA in Philosophy) and then Luther Seminary (Masters of Divinity).
Denise, his wife of 20 yr., is from up state New York. They met in Cameroon, West Africa. Denise was in the Peace Corp and Jim was doing volunteer work with a missionary for three months. He heard the call of God to full time ministry there in Africa at the age of 28. Prior to this he had been working in the business field. Jim says, "That has always helped me see and truly believe in the priesthood of all believers. I served God as a lay person and shared my faith and love. I believe God gifts every person for some kind of ministry. We just need to seek Him and step out trying various ways of serving. Christ calls us all to serve, some to full time ministry. At Redeemer we hope all will be spiritually fed and find their place of service as disciples of Jesus Christ. We are, "People loving people out of love for God."
